Birdie 39 - Whip it GOOD.

Do you know Drew Barrymore last film? Yeah, she acts and directs it. And I liked so much that movie. Maybe because I have a strange taste with inadapted characters, or because Daria marked my childhood. Whip It, its the typicl story if a inadapted girl, but it has that different taste that calls you to watch it. The nicknames are simply cool. Babe Ruthless, Eva Destruction, Smashley Simpson? Haha. It has also a beautiful photography, the pool scene is something magical. Plus? Ellen Page, that is starting to be a icon girl of this kind of movies. Other plus? The soundtrack, a piece of jewerly. Here it is.

PS : I'll confess that this movie made me want to learn to roller skate. I had a Barbie rollers when I was a kid, but I had this trauma with falling. Goal for this year?

Conocen la ultima pelicula de Drew Barrymore? Pero ademas de actuarla, la dirigio. Y me encanto la pelicula. Sera porque tengo un gusto por personajes desadaptados, o porque Daria marcó mi niñez. Whip It. Es la tipica historia de la chica desadaptada, pero tiene ese gustillo distinto que llama la atencion. Los sobrenombres son sencillamente geniales. Babe Ruthless, Smashley Simpson? Haha. Tiene tambien una fotografia preciosa, la escena de la piscina es algo magico. Plus? Ellen Page, que ya comienza a convertirse en un personaje icono para este tipo de personajes, y del cine distinto. Y otro plus? La banda sonora. Una joyita, aca se las dejo.

PS: Confesare que esta pelicula hizo que quisiera aprender a patinar. Tenia unos patines de Barbie de chica, pero tenia un trauma con caerme. Meta para fin de año?

Birdie 38 - Frivolidad.

Reconocere que he cambiado muchisimo desde que comence mi primer blog. Pero que mantengo mis ideales. Y es que me habia vuelto un poco perra con los otros que tenia, criticaba demasiado y me sentia demasiado sobre los demas. Odiosaa! Pero creo tambien que he pasado a otros extremos, el de ser bastante frivola, o por lo menos parecer eso en este blog. Simplemente recorde eso al ver por ahi este pedacito de "Devil wears Prada" que me paro los pelos. Y es que es la encarnacion de todo lo que detesto. Bueno, de una de las cosas que detesto, sere sincera. Puff, gente pedante.

Andy Sachs: Bueno, es que esos dos cinturones me parecen exactamente iguales... Ya sabes, aún estoy aprendiendo sobre estas cosas.
Miranda Priestly: Estas... ¿cosas? Oh... ya veo, piensas que esto no tiene nada que ver contigo. Tú vas a tu armario y seleccionas no sé… ese jersey azul deforme porque intentas decirle al mundo que te tomas demasiado en serio como para preocuparte por lo que te pondrás.Pero lo que no sabes es que ese jersey no es azul, no es turquesa ni es marino, en realidad es cerúleo. Tampoco eres consciente del hecho de que en 2002 Oscar de la Renta presentó una colección de vestidos cerúleos y luego creo que fue Yves Saint Laurent ¿no, el que presento chaquetas militares cerúleas? Necesitamos una chaqueta. Y luego el azul cerúleo apareció en las colecciones de ocho diseñadores distintos y después se filtró a los grandes almacenes y luego fue hasta alguna deprimente tienda de ropa a precios asequibles donde tú sin duda lo rescataste de alguna cesta de ofertas. No obstante ese azul representa millones de dólares y muchos puestos de trabajo y resulta cómico que creas que elegiste algo que te exime de la industria de la moda cuando de hecho llevas un jersey que fue seleccionado para ti por personas como nosotros entre un montón de cosas…

Sinceramente, se me hizo agua la boca viendo esta pelicula. Pastelillos elevados a mil, Macaroons de Ladureé... Zapatos de Manolo Blanhik, quien podria pedir mas?

I was drooling while I watches this movie. Tons of cakes, Macaroons from Ladureé, Manolo Blanhik Shoes... who could ask for more?

Haha... adoro a su peluquero gay. / Haha, love her gay hairdresser.

Birdie 29 - Marie Antoinette I (History and Movie)

Este es el primer post de tres que hare de otra de mis peliculas favoritas. Maria Antonieta.

Antes que hablar de la Coppola y sus maravillas, un poco de historia.

Maria Antonia Josefa Juana de Hasburgo-Lorena, nacio en Viena, el 2 de noviembre de 1755 y fallecio en Paris, al 16 de octubre de 1793, a los 38 años. Mas conocida como Maria Antonieta de Austria, princesa de Hungria y archiduquesa de Austria, y reina de Francia y Navarra, y mas tarde de los franceses por su matrimonio con Luis XVI.

 

Creo que saben de quien me refiero no? La reina decapitada, la fiestera, la derrochadora, un icono de la moda en su epoca, aquella a la que se le atribuyo la frase "Si no tienen pan, que coman pasteles" (Qu’ils mangent de la brioche) ESA Maria Antonieta. 

Me muero por leer la biografia que Antonia Fraser escribio sobre ella. (En el que por cierto de basa la pelicula) Hasta ahora, si hablamos de libros, me he leido solo los de historia, y uno buenisimo que compre el año pasado, que, si les gusta este tema, se los recomiendo; "Los Diamantes de la Guillotina" de Pierre Combescot. Aqui tenemos un detallado registro (claro que es novela, tiene su que se yo) acerca del problema del collar que logro destruir totalmente la popularidad de la joven reina.

“Todo lo que hicimos está basado en la investigación sobre la época, pero se ve todo desde un punto de vista del mundo contemporáneo. Mi mayor miedo era hacer una película tipo ‘obra maestra de teatro’. No quería hacer una película de época seca e histórica con unos encuadres fríos y distantes. Para mí era muy importante contar la historia a mi manera. Quería que esta película dejara que el público sintiera lo que debía ser estar en Versalles en esa época y realmente se perdiera en ese mundo.

He oído muchos clichés sobre María Antonieta y su decadente estilo de vida. Pero nunca me había dado cuenta antes de lo jóvenes que realmente eran ella y Luis XVI. Eran básicamente adolescentes encargados de dirigir Francia durante un periodo muy volátil y desde un escenario increíblemente extravagante, la corte de Versalles. Eso es lo primero que me interesó: La idea de que esos chicos hubieran sido situados en esa posición e intentaran descubrir por lo que tenían que pasar tratando de crecer en una situación tan extrema" -Sofia Coppola

Vive rapido y poco. Esa fue su vida.

This is the first post of three that I'll make about other of my favourite movies, Marie Antoinette.

But before talking about Coppola and her wonders, lets see some history.

Marie Antoinette Josèphe Jeanne de Habsbourg-Lorraine, born in Viena, November 2 of 1755 and died in Paris, October 16 of 1793, at 38 years. Most known as Marie Antoinette from Austria, princess of Hungria and Archduchess of Austria, and queen of France and Navarra, later queen of France because of her marriage with Louis XVI.

  

I think you know who I'm talking about don't you? The queen who was decapitated, the queen who love to party and spend lots of money, the one who supposely said the phrase "If they don't have bread, they can eat cake." (Qu’ils mangent de la brioche) THAT Marie Antoinette.

I'm dying to read the biography that Antonia Fraser wrote about her (Book that was the inspiration and base for the movie) Until now, if we talk about books, I've only read the history ones, and other sooo good, that I bought last year, so if you like this theme, I'd totally reccomend it. "Les diamants de la guillotine" of Pierre Combescot. Here we have a very detailed register (of course is a novel, so it has its catching thing) about the problem of the diamond necklace, that finally destroyed the popularity of the young queen.

"All what we did its based on the investigation about the epoque, but you see all from a modern point of view. My biggest fear was making a movie like a "theather masterpiece" I didn't wanted to make a dry and historical epoque movie with cold and distant look. For me was very important to tell the story on my way. I wanted that this movie let the audience feel what it should be to live in Versailles in that epoque, and to get lost in that world.

I've heard a lot of cliches about Marie Antoinette, and her decadent lifestyle. But I never thought before how young the were her and Louis XVI. They were basically adolescents in charge of France during a very hard period, and from a very extravagant scenario, the Versailles court. That was the first thing that catcher me. The idea that those teens were situated in that position, and that they try to discover what they have to pass, trying to grow in such a extreme situation." -Sofia Coppola.

Live fast and short. That was her life.
