Birdie 28 - Be Italian.

Hace tiempo, esos dias que el cine estuvo a 2 lucas, fuimos con mi mamá al cine, y nos metimos a ver dos peliculas de una. Ponyo y Nine. De Ponyo les puedo hablar maravillas por horas, porque me encantan las peliculas de Miyazaki; El Viaje de Chihiro, La Princesa Mononoke, Mi Vecino Totoro. Pero lo que me traumo ese dia fue cuando fuimos a ver Nine. Como fuimos en la mañana un dia de semana, estaba vacia, salvo por dos caballeros. Uno de aspecto bastante decente, pero otro parece que se la paso haciendo "cosillas" en la pelicula, en especial cuando Pé salio bailando. TRAUMA ABSOLUTO! A pesar de eso me gusto la pelicula, porque detesto los musicales (un gusto adquirido de mi madre, que los odia tambien) Me gusto mucho la cancion de Fergie, eso de "Se italiano" grrr!

Some time ago, I went to the cinema with my mom, a days when cinema was very cheap, and we saw two movies, one after other; Ponyo and Nine. About Ponyo I can talk wonders for hours, because I love Miyazaki's movies; Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro. But what was my day trauma, was when we went to watch Nine. We went in the morning, one day on the week, so the room was empty, except for two gentlemens. One looked pretty decent, but the other seems like he made some "stuff" in the movie, specially when Pé appeared dancing. ABSOLUTE TRAUMA!  But despite this, I liked the movie, because I hate musicals (an acquired taste from my mother, that hates them too) I liked a lot Fergie's song, that thing about "Be Italian" Grr!

Birdie 27 - Edie.

Me muero por ver Factory Girl, pero no se donde conseguirla. Por si no saben que es, es la pelicula basada en la vida de Edie Sedgwick, y por si no saben quien es ella (aunque la mayoria de las chicas que se precien de aspirante a voguette lo saben), aqui va una frase que resumiria todo.

"Edie Sedgwick was a sixties style icon. Consort to Andy Warhol, muse to Bob Dylan, she was also heiress to a vast fortune."

I'm just dying to see Factory Girl, but I don't know where I can get it. If you don't know what is that, its the movie based on Edie Sedgwick's life, and If you don't know who's her (even that the most of the girls that consider herself a voguette aspirant knows) theres a phrase that would resume it all.

Birdie 26 - Maths in fashion, Maths in beauty, Maths in universe.

El mundo es matematicamente perfecto. Las flores tienen angulos alternados, las hojas de helecho tienen poligonos, las conchas marinas tienen helicoides. Simetrias, angulos, espirales, esferas, elipses, cilindros... Los estoy aburriendo? Parezco una cientifica chiflada? Es que las formas geometricas estan en todo. En la naturaleza, en el universo, en nosotros mismos.


Segun la biologia, vendriamos a ser dos embriones pegados o algo asi. Y por esto, tenemos una simetria bilateral, que consiste en que una parte del cuerpo corresponde con la contralateral (o en español, la parte de la izquierda es semejante a la derecha y viceversa) Pero esta simetria no es perfecta, nos damos cuenta si nos fijamos en organos como el corazon, el higado, o para darse cuenta palpablemente, nuestras dos manos. Si se fijan bien, una es ligeramente mas grande que la otra.

Esto es aun mas evidente si dividimos una fotografia de un rostro por la mitad, verticalmente. Al juntar la mitad de la imagen con un espejo, nos daremos cuenta que el nuevo rostro formado por la union de mitades de un lado es muy distinto al formado normalmente, o al formado por la repeticion de los lados contrarios. Asi mismo existe un lado predominante, que es comunmente el derecho si somos diestros, o el izquierdo si somos zurdos.


Ya, voy al grano. Segun este articulo, Kate Moss es tan fotogenica, porque su rostro es matematicamente casi perfecto. Si se fijan en esa pequeña division que sale en el articulo, es la division de las proporciones de su rostro. El rostro perfecto seria un 0,7, y ella tiene 0,678. Soy sincera o no? No me gusta mucho Kate Moss. En sus inicios le encuentro cara de Nosferatu, y ahora la encuentro engreida. Cosas de gusto, no?

According to biology, we would be two pasted embryons, or something like that. And thats why we have a billateral symmetry, that consists in the fact that one part of the body concords to the other side. But this simmetry isn't perfect. If we think about the organs like the heart, that are asymetrical, or to see it yourself, your hands. One is a little bit bigger than the other.

This is even more evident if we divide the photography of a face, vertically in two parts. When you put one half of the image with a mirror, you'll see that the new face formed with the union of the mirror and half of the face, is very different than the one formed with the other half of the face. 

Also there's a predominant side, that commonly is the right if we're right handed, or left if you're lefty.

Okay, I'll go to my point now. according to this article, Kate Moss is so photogenic, because her face is mathematically perfect. If you see that small division in the page, its the division of the proportions of her face. A perfect one would be 0,7 and hers is 0,678. Should I be sincere? I really don't like very much Kate Moss. In her beginnings, I think she looks like Nosferatu, and now I think she's conceited. Well, everybody haves its own taste.

Birdie 24 - Interesting way of seeing life.

Birdie 23 - Hair, Hair, Hair.

Aunque esta editorial del Vogue Nippon esta viejisima (2007!) Me encantan los cortes. Me gusta ese rojo furioso, y que por fin se empiece a aceptar el pelo rizado, tras la esclavizacion pokemona y pelolais que surgio y la obligacion de usar planchita de pelo (a la que sucumbi tontamente por un año, ahora no me aliso el pelo ni a palos) La verdad? Me gusta el pelo con volumen, o muy largo o muy corto. Si tuviera el pelo liso, definitivamente me haria un corte garcon. 

Even this editorial fron Nippon Vogue is very old (2007) I just love the haircuts. I like that furious red, and the fact that finally curly hair is being accepted and liked after the "pelolais" (rich girls) and pokemon (something like emos but with reggaeton) enslavisation (the word is like that?) appeared, and it was a MUST using a hair iron (I succumbed stupidily to it for a year. Now, I wouldn't straight my hair even if I was dead) Actually, I like the hair with volume, and very long, or very short. If I had straight hair, definetly I'd made a Garcon haircut.

Birdie 22 - Bright Star

Desde que vi en un blog el trailer de la pelicula Bright Star me he devanado los sesos tratando de encontrarla para verla en internet. Ya les confese mi romanticismo absoluto, y esta pelicula me sedujo totalmente. La pelicula trata acerca del tragico romance entre el poeta John Keats y Fanny Brawne. Digo tragico porque el murio a los 25 años. Lei un poco de su poesia (porque no lo conocia antes de ver el trailer) y me enamore de ella. Alguien sabe donde la puedo encontrar?

Since I've saw in a blog the trailer of the movie Bright Star I've searched a LOT, trying to find it on internet. I've already confessed you my absolut romanticism, and this movie totally seduced me. The movie centers around the beautiful yet tragic romance between the poet John Keats and his love Fanny Brawne. I say tragic because he died at 25 years. I've read a bit of his poetry (because I didn't knew him before watching the trailer) and I fell in love with it. Does anyone knows where I can find it?

Me enamore totalmente de Joseph Gordon Levitt en "500 Days of Summer" o mas bien de su personaje, Tom. Su facha me mato, en serio.

I totally fell in love with Joseph Gordon Levitt in "500 Days of Summer" or being more exactly, with his character, Tom. His looks killed me, seriously.

Birdie 20 - Roald Dahl

El es uno de mis escritores infantiles favoritos, y de pequeña devoraba sus libros. El superzorro, Matilda, Las Brujas, y por supuesto, Charlie y la Fabrica de Chocolate. Tan ingeniosos como espeluznantes en algunas cosas, y con una gran cantidad de humor negro, eran una mezcla buenisima, entre realidad y ficcion infantil.

Aprovechando el poco tiempo libre que tengo, dado que estoy en mi ultimo año escolar, me dedique a leer la biografia del autor.

• Nacio el 13 de septiembre de 1916
• Fue piloto de la Royal Air Force desde 1939.
• En 1940 tuvo un accidente aereo en el cual se fracturo el craneo, se rompio la nariz y se cego, pero logro escapar. Los doctores dijeron que no podria volver a volar, pero en 1941 (cinco meses despues) fue dado de alta y paso a tareas de vuelo.
• Participo como piloto en la segunda guerra mundial.
• Comenzo a escribir en 1942, cuando fue transferido a Washington.
• Su primer trabajo aparecio en la edicion del Saturday Evening Post el 1 de agosto de 1942.
  
• Estuvo casado por 30 años con la actriz Patricia Neal, y tuvieron cinco hijos.
• En 1983 se caso con Felicity Ann d'Abreu Crosland, quien solia ser la mejor amiga de su primera esposa.
  
• Murio de leucemia el 23 de noviembre de 1990.

He's one of my favourite writers from when I was child, and when I was little I just read one book after other. The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Matilda, The Witches, and of course Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. As ingenious as creepy in some things, and with a big amount of black humour, they're a super mix between reality and fiction.

Taking the little free time I have, since I'm on my last school year, I've read the author biography.

• Was born on september 13 of 1916
  
• Was a Royal Air Force pilot since1939.
  
• In 1940 he had an aereal accident in which he fractured his head, broke his nose and became blind, but he escaped. The doctors said he could never fly again, but in 1942 (five months later) he started flying again.
  
• Participed as pilot on the II World War.
  
• Started writing on 1942, when he was transfered to Washington.
  
• His first work appeared on the edition of the Saturday Evening Post, on August the 1st of 1942.
  
• Was married 30 years with the actress Patricia Neal and they had five childs.
• In 1983 he married with Felicity Ann d'Abreu Crosland, who was her first wife BF.
  
• Died of leuchemy on november 23 of 1990

Por cierto, supieron que sacaron la pelicula del Superzorro? Dirigida por Wes Anderson, el mismo director de Los Excentricos Tenenbaums y el Expreso a Darjeeling. Su pelicula es una obra de arte. La musica, como estan hechos los personajes, la tecnica, aluciné con esta pelicula. Las voces principales son de George Clooney y Meryl Streep... y de verdad, es fantastica.

By the way, did you know there's a movie of The Fantastic Mr. Fox? Directed by Wes Anderson, the same director of The Royal Tenenbaums and The Darjeeling Limited. His movie is a piece of art. The music, how the characters are made, the technique, I allucinated with this movie. The actors? George Clooney as Mr. Fox and Meryl Streep as Mrs. Fox. The Mr. Fox is indeed, Fantastic!

Summer: We've been like Sid and Nancy for months now.
Tom: We've had some disagreements but I hardly think I'm Sid Vicious.
Summer: No I'm Sid.
Tom: Oh, so I'm Nancy...

Birdie 18 - Apples!

Muchisimo tiempo sin subir recetas! Hoy posteare una de mis favoritas; pie de manzana sin masa. Es muy simple, y viene perfecta con una buena taza de te, o si quieres servirlo de postre, con un poco de helado de vainilla.

Ingredientes : 

• 4 a 6 manzanas verdes
• 1 taza de azucar para sancochar
• Canela
• 6 cucharadas de mantequilla
• 1 taza de harina
• Media taza de azucar

Preparacion:

1. Se pelan las manzanas, y se cortan en cuatro. Se remueven las pepas de la manzana y se corta en laminas delgadas. En un bowl verter la taza de azucar y canela a gusto, y verteremos las manzanas en esta mezcla seca, revolveremos hasta que se impregnen y dejaremos reposar 15 minutos.
2. Mientras dejamos reposar, con una batidora mezclamos la taza de harina, la media taza de azucar y las seis cucharadas de mantequilla, hasta que quede con una consistencia de miga de pan. 
3. En una budinera o fuente para horno vertemos las manzanas y cubrimos con la masa. Hornear 15-20 minutos y se sirve tibio.

Long time without posting some recipes! Today I'm posting one of my favourites, apple pie without crust. Is very simple, and its perfect with a big cup of tea, or if you want to serve it as dessert, you can add some vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients : 

• 4 to 6 green apples.
• 1 cup of sugar.
• Cinnamon
• 6 spoons of butter
• 1 cup of flour.
• 1/2 cup of sugar

Preparation:

1. You peel the apples, and cut it in four. Remove the seeds and laminate. In a bowl, put the cup of sugar and as much cinnamon as you want, and put the apples in this dry mix, and we will mix them  and let them settle for 15 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, with a mixer we'll mix the cup of flour, the 1/2 cup of sugar and the butter. The final consistence mus be as bread crumb.
3. In a ovenproof dish we'll put the apples and sprinkle them with the dough. We'll cook them for 15-20 minutes, and serve warm.

Simple, and DE-LI-CIOUS.

Birdie 17 - Pride And Prejudice. And...?

Soy una romantica por excelencia, a veces pienso que quiza no me habria importado dejar de poder ser tan libre como lo somos las mujeres ahora, a cambio de un poco de ese romanticismo clasico. Jane Austen? Por supuesto, "Orgullo y Prejuicio" es practicamente una de mis biblias, que me hacen suspirar y despues pegarme esos porrazos tan dolorosos. Pero, no lo encuentran precioso? La galanteria, la educacion, todo eso. Y los vestidos! El libro lo compre en el ultimo viaje que hice a Argentina, donde las poquisimas veces que he ido junto todo el dinero que puedo para comprarme turradas de libros. Es un abuso el impuesto que hay aqui en Chile. De todos modos, aqui hay algunos de los screencaps de la pelicula protagonizada por Keira Knightley.

I'm totally a romantic, somethimes I think that maybe it wouldn't matter stop being just for a little while as free as we're now womens, in exchange for some classic romanticism. Jane Austen? Of course, "Pride and Prejudice" is practically one of my bibles, that make me to yearn for it, and after that hit me with the ground. But, don't you think is so beautiful?  All those nice treats for womens, so educated people... and that stuff. And the dresses! I bought the book in my last trip to Argentina, because anytime I go, I save as much money as I can, and buy tons of books. The tax for books is abusive here in Chile! Por cierto, sabian que hay otro libro bastante... parecido? Hahahah me rei un monton cuando supe el titulo. "Orgullo y prejuicio y zombies" es una novela de Seth Grahame-Smith, y es una especie de mezcolanza entre el libro de Austen y zombies. Las chicas estan entrenadas en kung-fu y Darcy es un cazador de zombies. Por no mencionar que los temas de conversacion son la conveniencia de llevar o no un mosquete,.(al ser útil, pero considerado "poco femenino)

By the way, did you know about a book pretty... simmilar? Hahah, I laughed a lot when I knew the title. "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" its a novel of the writer Seth Grahame-Smith, and its a mashup between Austen book and zombies. The girls know kung-fu and Darcy is a monster-hunter. Not to mention that the conversation themes are the pros and cons of carrying a musket (it provides safety, but is considered "unladylike").

Vi las dos primeras temporadas, y suspire por la relacion de Serena con Dan, sufri por Blair y sus affaires con Chuck, babee de lo lindo con Chace Crawford... y me diverti MUCHO mirando la ropa. Me encanta como se viste Blair, aunque no creo que yo me vistiese asi, pero de todos modos lo encuentro divino.

Y resulta que todo esto catapulto a nuestros chiquillos a la fama, Blake Lively y Leighton Meester terminaron siendo fotografiadas por Mario Testino. Que envidia, no?

De los libros, que por si no saben son escritos por Cecily Von Ziegesar, me lei solo el primero y online, porque no los venden aca en Chile... (por lo menos que yo sepa, si alguien sabe donde puedo comprarlos, que me diga!) Pero son totalmente distintos a la serie, son aun mejores! Bueno, ya conocen mi politica sobre libros y peliculas o TV. Y en este caso, es totalmente cierta.

Who doesn't knows, or hasn't heard about this series? (at least if you know about series or fashion) I recognize I haven't seen it in so much time, but it had me totally glued to my laptop, about how bitchy Blair could be, and Serena's tryouts to be a good girl. The formula? Just perfect.

I saw the first two seasons, and I just loved Serena & Dan relationship, I suffered because of Blair and her affaires with Chuck, I drooled because of Chace Crawford... and I had such a GREAT time looking at the clothes. I just love how Blair dresses, even if I don't think I would dress like that, but anyways is just wonderful.

And because of all this, our guys are now so famous! Blake Lively & Leighton Meester ended up being photographed by Mario Testino. I'm SO envious!

The books, that if you don't know are written by Cecily Von Ziegesar, I just've read the first one, and online, because they don't sell them here in Chile... but are totally different from the serie, they're even better! Well, you know my politic about books and movies or TV. And in this case, its totally true.

Birdie 15 - Breakfast at Tiffanys.

Han visto Desayuno en Tiffanys? Una de mis peliculas favoritas, definitivamente. Holly Golightly se convirtio un tiempo en mi heroina favorita, hace un año o dos, cuando tenia la cabeza igual de revuelta que ella en muchas cosas. Pero saben? Despues de verla me entro esa curiosidad mortifera, esa que te dice "Los libros son siempre mejores que las peliculas" y en el viaje de mi curso, donde fuimos a Argentina, me compré el libro de Capote. Definitivamente la pelicula esta endulcorada al cien por ciento, con un final totalmente opuesto al que el escritor habia hecho. Las palabras BASADA en la novela de Truman Capote son totalmente ciertas. Holly es bastante distinta a la Hepburn (la Audrey, obviamente y no la otra) y el final... bueno, es distinto.

Que prefieren ustedes, las peliculas o los libros? Por lo menos yo, soy de la firme opinion que un buen libro siempre sera mejor que su posterior pelicula. Bueno... la mayoria del tiempo.

Have you seen Breakfast at Tiffanys? One of my favourite movies, definetly. Holly Golightly became some time ago in my favourite heroin, one year or two ago, when my head was as messed as her in some ways. But, you know? After watching it, in my head appeared that deadly curiositi, that one that says "Books are better than movies" and in my grade trip, where we went to Argentina, I bought Capote's book. Definetly the movie is totally changed, in a hundred percent, and it has an totally opposite ending than the one that the writer made. The words BASED in the Truman Capote's novel are totally true. Holly is very different to Hepburn (Audrey obviously, not the other) and the ending... well, is different. 

What do you preffer, the movies or the books? At least I, have the firm opinion that a good book always is best than the movie. Well, the most part of time.

Birdie 14 - Virgin Suicides.

 

Alguna vez han dado uno de esos besos... en los cuales terminas toda enredada, y con la sensacion equivocada? Yo si. Y esta imagen me hace sentir asi - Have you ever given one of those kisses... when you end up all messed up and with the wrong sensation? I did. And this scene makes me feel like that.

Por lo menos para mi, es una de las peliculas mas hermosas que he visto. Porque la hermosura no siempre tiene que ser alegre, porque la hermosura puede ser la tristeza que toda chica guarda, romanticamente en su corazón.

At least for me, this is one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen. Because beauty doesn't always has to be happy, because beauty can be the sadness that every girl locks, romanticaly in her heart.
