Birdie 35 - One, Two, Three... GET JEALOUS!

And as the title says, get jealous, because yesterday arrived the books that I've been waiting for so long from E-Bay!

Y como dice el titulo, ponganse celosos, pues ayer me llegaron los libros que tanto habia esperado por E-Bay!

Do you know them? Well, I'm so happy that I'm gonna brag. 

Manhattan Transfer, by John Dos Passos, Marie Antoinette; The Journey, by Antonia Fraser, and Edie; Girl on Fire, by Melissa Painter. The Edie's one is simply great, and it was so cheap, just 9 dollars! Marie Antoinette's one, well... I will recognize that its been a little difficult for me to read it, it has been so long time since I've read something in english and this doesn't has the easiest terminology, but I loved it. I'm keeping Manhattan Transfer to the end, I've read so much good things about this book and its author that I wanna give me the complete time to read it.

And what about you? Have you bought new books recently?

Los reconocen? Pues hoy estoy tan contenta que alardeare por ello. 
Manhattan Transfer, de John Dos Passos, Marie Antoinette; The Journey, de Antonia Fraser, y Edie; Girl on Fire, de Melissa Painter. El de Edie esta sencillamente divino, y me costo baratisimo, solo 9 dólares! El de Maria Antonieta, pues reconozco que me ha costado un poco leerlo, hacia mucho que no leia en ingles, y este pues no digamos tiene la terminologia mas sencilla, pero me ha encantado. Manhattan Transfer lo estoy guardando para el final, habia leido cosas tan buenas de este libro y de su autor que quiero darme el tiempo completo de saborearlo.

Birdie 20 - Roald Dahl

El es uno de mis escritores infantiles favoritos, y de pequeña devoraba sus libros. El superzorro, Matilda, Las Brujas, y por supuesto, Charlie y la Fabrica de Chocolate. Tan ingeniosos como espeluznantes en algunas cosas, y con una gran cantidad de humor negro, eran una mezcla buenisima, entre realidad y ficcion infantil.

Aprovechando el poco tiempo libre que tengo, dado que estoy en mi ultimo año escolar, me dedique a leer la biografia del autor.

• Nacio el 13 de septiembre de 1916
• Fue piloto de la Royal Air Force desde 1939.
• En 1940 tuvo un accidente aereo en el cual se fracturo el craneo, se rompio la nariz y se cego, pero logro escapar. Los doctores dijeron que no podria volver a volar, pero en 1941 (cinco meses despues) fue dado de alta y paso a tareas de vuelo.
• Participo como piloto en la segunda guerra mundial.
• Comenzo a escribir en 1942, cuando fue transferido a Washington.
• Su primer trabajo aparecio en la edicion del Saturday Evening Post el 1 de agosto de 1942.
  
• Estuvo casado por 30 años con la actriz Patricia Neal, y tuvieron cinco hijos.
• En 1983 se caso con Felicity Ann d'Abreu Crosland, quien solia ser la mejor amiga de su primera esposa.
  
• Murio de leucemia el 23 de noviembre de 1990.

He's one of my favourite writers from when I was child, and when I was little I just read one book after other. The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Matilda, The Witches, and of course Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. As ingenious as creepy in some things, and with a big amount of black humour, they're a super mix between reality and fiction.

Taking the little free time I have, since I'm on my last school year, I've read the author biography.

• Was born on september 13 of 1916
  
• Was a Royal Air Force pilot since1939.
  
• In 1940 he had an aereal accident in which he fractured his head, broke his nose and became blind, but he escaped. The doctors said he could never fly again, but in 1942 (five months later) he started flying again.
  
• Participed as pilot on the II World War.
  
• Started writing on 1942, when he was transfered to Washington.
  
• His first work appeared on the edition of the Saturday Evening Post, on August the 1st of 1942.
  
• Was married 30 years with the actress Patricia Neal and they had five childs.
• In 1983 he married with Felicity Ann d'Abreu Crosland, who was her first wife BF.
  
• Died of leuchemy on november 23 of 1990

Por cierto, supieron que sacaron la pelicula del Superzorro? Dirigida por Wes Anderson, el mismo director de Los Excentricos Tenenbaums y el Expreso a Darjeeling. Su pelicula es una obra de arte. La musica, como estan hechos los personajes, la tecnica, aluciné con esta pelicula. Las voces principales son de George Clooney y Meryl Streep... y de verdad, es fantastica.

By the way, did you know there's a movie of The Fantastic Mr. Fox? Directed by Wes Anderson, the same director of The Royal Tenenbaums and The Darjeeling Limited. His movie is a piece of art. The music, how the characters are made, the technique, I allucinated with this movie. The actors? George Clooney as Mr. Fox and Meryl Streep as Mrs. Fox. The Mr. Fox is indeed, Fantastic!

Birdie 17 - Pride And Prejudice. And...?

Soy una romantica por excelencia, a veces pienso que quiza no me habria importado dejar de poder ser tan libre como lo somos las mujeres ahora, a cambio de un poco de ese romanticismo clasico. Jane Austen? Por supuesto, "Orgullo y Prejuicio" es practicamente una de mis biblias, que me hacen suspirar y despues pegarme esos porrazos tan dolorosos. Pero, no lo encuentran precioso? La galanteria, la educacion, todo eso. Y los vestidos! El libro lo compre en el ultimo viaje que hice a Argentina, donde las poquisimas veces que he ido junto todo el dinero que puedo para comprarme turradas de libros. Es un abuso el impuesto que hay aqui en Chile. De todos modos, aqui hay algunos de los screencaps de la pelicula protagonizada por Keira Knightley.

I'm totally a romantic, somethimes I think that maybe it wouldn't matter stop being just for a little while as free as we're now womens, in exchange for some classic romanticism. Jane Austen? Of course, "Pride and Prejudice" is practically one of my bibles, that make me to yearn for it, and after that hit me with the ground. But, don't you think is so beautiful?  All those nice treats for womens, so educated people... and that stuff. And the dresses! I bought the book in my last trip to Argentina, because anytime I go, I save as much money as I can, and buy tons of books. The tax for books is abusive here in Chile! Por cierto, sabian que hay otro libro bastante... parecido? Hahahah me rei un monton cuando supe el titulo. "Orgullo y prejuicio y zombies" es una novela de Seth Grahame-Smith, y es una especie de mezcolanza entre el libro de Austen y zombies. Las chicas estan entrenadas en kung-fu y Darcy es un cazador de zombies. Por no mencionar que los temas de conversacion son la conveniencia de llevar o no un mosquete,.(al ser útil, pero considerado "poco femenino)

By the way, did you know about a book pretty... simmilar? Hahah, I laughed a lot when I knew the title. "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" its a novel of the writer Seth Grahame-Smith, and its a mashup between Austen book and zombies. The girls know kung-fu and Darcy is a monster-hunter. Not to mention that the conversation themes are the pros and cons of carrying a musket (it provides safety, but is considered "unladylike").
