Birdie 38 - Frivolidad.

Reconocere que he cambiado muchisimo desde que comence mi primer blog. Pero que mantengo mis ideales. Y es que me habia vuelto un poco perra con los otros que tenia, criticaba demasiado y me sentia demasiado sobre los demas. Odiosaa! Pero creo tambien que he pasado a otros extremos, el de ser bastante frivola, o por lo menos parecer eso en este blog. Simplemente recorde eso al ver por ahi este pedacito de "Devil wears Prada" que me paro los pelos. Y es que es la encarnacion de todo lo que detesto. Bueno, de una de las cosas que detesto, sere sincera. Puff, gente pedante.

Andy Sachs: Bueno, es que esos dos cinturones me parecen exactamente iguales... Ya sabes, aún estoy aprendiendo sobre estas cosas.
Miranda Priestly: Estas... ¿cosas? Oh... ya veo, piensas que esto no tiene nada que ver contigo. Tú vas a tu armario y seleccionas no sé… ese jersey azul deforme porque intentas decirle al mundo que te tomas demasiado en serio como para preocuparte por lo que te pondrás.Pero lo que no sabes es que ese jersey no es azul, no es turquesa ni es marino, en realidad es cerúleo. Tampoco eres consciente del hecho de que en 2002 Oscar de la Renta presentó una colección de vestidos cerúleos y luego creo que fue Yves Saint Laurent ¿no, el que presento chaquetas militares cerúleas? Necesitamos una chaqueta. Y luego el azul cerúleo apareció en las colecciones de ocho diseñadores distintos y después se filtró a los grandes almacenes y luego fue hasta alguna deprimente tienda de ropa a precios asequibles donde tú sin duda lo rescataste de alguna cesta de ofertas. No obstante ese azul representa millones de dólares y muchos puestos de trabajo y resulta cómico que creas que elegiste algo que te exime de la industria de la moda cuando de hecho llevas un jersey que fue seleccionado para ti por personas como nosotros entre un montón de cosas…

Birdie 37 - Rock n' roll bitch.

I thought a LOT about my last post. I've been liking this band for... four years? since mom told me that I should listen the classics, because rock isn't rock if you dont know the classics. And I fell in love with them, and all what they involve, I mean, they were so freakin' cool! A band of girls in mens land, they're totally revolutionaries, they fought against all the prejudice about girls and rock n' roll. And they made it. In USA I think The Runaways probably are very "hip" (or however you say) because of the movie. But I mean, its just a movie, and even if it's GREAT you can't talk about them if you don't truly know how's the band spirit. So hear.

Pense mucho acerca de mi ultimo post. Esta banda me gusta de hace... cuatro años? Desde que mi mamá me dijo que debia escuchar los clasicos, porque el rock no es verdaderamente rock si no conoces los clasicos. Y me enamore de ellas, y todo lo que involucra, es decir, eran tan jodidamente geniales! Una banda de chicas en tierra de hombres, son unas verdaderas revolucionarias. Pelearon contra todos los prejuicios acerca de las mujeres y el rock n' roll. Y se impusieron. En USA seguramente The Runaways estan muy "hip" (o como sea qua digan alla) por la pelicula. Pero, es solo una pelicula, digo... incluso si es GENIAL no puedes hablar de ellas si no conoces como es el espiritu de la banda. Asi que escucha.

Concerto.

And I'll keep braging, because yesterday I went to a concert that was simply spectacular; Yann Tiersen in Chile. For the ones that don't know him, he's a french composer, the same that composed the soundtracks for movies like Amelie, or Goodbye Lenin.

And you'll say, Why you didn't get some pictures? Well... I forgot the camera. Haha. And also I believe that being recording ruins the moment that you should be enjoying. I always tried to have that separation between photography and life, I think photography is something you must dedicate in the right times, but life... you must live it, and enjoy it. I don't know if you can understand me, Hehe.

Anyways, the concert really got me emotioned. I've gone to lot of concert, and I think that they were good concerts; Madonna, The Academy Is, etc. But in this one, you could clearly see that all the integrants, and Yann over all with his violin, expelled energy and pasion, by tons. A perfectly spent cash, and enjoyed.

Y sigo alardeando porque ayer fui a un concierto sencillamente espectacular; Yann Tiersen en Chile. Para los que no lo conocen, es un compositor francés, el mismo que compuso los soundtracks de peliculas como Amelie, o Goodbye Lenin.


Me diran "porque no sacaste fotos?" Pues bien... se me olvido la cámara. Haha. Y ademas, creo que estar grabando arruina el momento de disfrutar. Siempre he tratado de tener esa separacion entre fotografia y vivir, creo que la fotografia es algo a lo que te debes dedicar en los momentos precisos, pero la vida, esa debes vivirla y disfrutarla a concho. No se si me entiendan, Hehe. 


En fin, el concierto me emociono de veras. He ido a muchos conciertos, y creo que buenos; Madonna, The Academy Is, My Chemical Romance, etece, etece... Pero en este, se podia ver claramente que los integrantes, y sobretodo Yann con su violin expulsaban energia y pasion a mares. Un dinero totalmente bien gastado, y disfrutado.

Birdie 36 - WHAT?

I really don't know why, but while I'm growing up, I start to hate that awful boyish-gangsta look that all the Chilean girls... love? No, I wouldn't say that, but a lot like. I think that being in a catholic school has its part of responsability of it. Okay, I passed my rebel epoque, I had crazy or punky friends, I wore black and awful clothes (not the kind of black that makes you look as a voguette), and specially depressing. And then, I started to have a transformation, that finished in a girl that wears feminine clothing, as blouses or skirts. SURPRISE! Is not that I'll reject you a band t-shirt, and is a little bit contradictory, because I totally love rock, and all what it implies. You know, The Runaways and that stuff. My style depends on the day actually. Some days I like to wear my skinny jeans and a funny shirt, and there are days when I rather wear skirt. But I think being feminine is important. It stresses me to see girls that look like guys. And the worst thing is that that change of role is very common.

P.S. : I mean, you can rock out and also be feminine... or not? Joan Jett knew how to do that.

No se porque será, pero a medida que voy creciendo comienzo a detestar ese look hortero del que todas las chilenas se sienten... orgullosas? Bueno, no sabria decir eso. Creo que estar en colegio religioso afecto un poco en todo eso. Les cuento, pase por mi epoca de rebeldia, tenia amigas medias locas, o medias punkys, usaba ropa completamente negra y completamente fea (digamos que no era precisamente el negro que te hace ver como una voguette) y deprimente. Y luego comence a pasar por una transformacion que desemboco en una muchachita que ahora usa ropa femenina, como blusas o faldas. SORPRESA! No es que te vaya a rechazar una polera de una banda, y es contradictorio pues amo el rock y todo lo que implica, The Runaways y todo eso. Mi estilo depende del dia. Hay dias en que prefiero usar mis skinny jeans, con una polera divertida o mas rebelde, y hay dias en que uso falda. Pero creo que la femineidad es importante. Me estresa ver chicas que parecen hombres. Y lo peor es que ahora es de lo mas comun ese cambio de rol.

Birdie 35 - One, Two, Three... GET JEALOUS!

And as the title says, get jealous, because yesterday arrived the books that I've been waiting for so long from E-Bay!

Y como dice el titulo, ponganse celosos, pues ayer me llegaron los libros que tanto habia esperado por E-Bay!

Do you know them? Well, I'm so happy that I'm gonna brag. 

Manhattan Transfer, by John Dos Passos, Marie Antoinette; The Journey, by Antonia Fraser, and Edie; Girl on Fire, by Melissa Painter. The Edie's one is simply great, and it was so cheap, just 9 dollars! Marie Antoinette's one, well... I will recognize that its been a little difficult for me to read it, it has been so long time since I've read something in english and this doesn't has the easiest terminology, but I loved it. I'm keeping Manhattan Transfer to the end, I've read so much good things about this book and its author that I wanna give me the complete time to read it.

And what about you? Have you bought new books recently?

Los reconocen? Pues hoy estoy tan contenta que alardeare por ello. 
Manhattan Transfer, de John Dos Passos, Marie Antoinette; The Journey, de Antonia Fraser, y Edie; Girl on Fire, de Melissa Painter. El de Edie esta sencillamente divino, y me costo baratisimo, solo 9 dólares! El de Maria Antonieta, pues reconozco que me ha costado un poco leerlo, hacia mucho que no leia en ingles, y este pues no digamos tiene la terminologia mas sencilla, pero me ha encantado. Manhattan Transfer lo estoy guardando para el final, habia leido cosas tan buenas de este libro y de su autor que quiero darme el tiempo completo de saborearlo.
Y ustedes, se han comprado libros recientemente?

Birdie 34 - Sick but happy

I've been sick since sunday, with terrible headaches and coughing. But in my lucidity periods, I can do more... interesting things, I believe. So I wanted to make a list of things that you can do when you're sick and alone in home.

1.Read, a lot.

2.Be all the day with pijamas without anyone saying anything.

3.Spend all the day in bed.

4.Sleep a lot.

5.Watch TV wihout feeling guilty.

6.Eat tons of tangerines and honey.

7.Draw

8.Listen to relaxing music.

9.Look awful, and justified.

10.Study without being stressed.

11.Cuddle with your cat/dog (in my case, cats)

12.Watch movies.

13.Make collages.

14.Let people watch after you.

He estado enferma desde el domingo, con dolores de cabeza terribles y mucha tos. Pero en mis periodos de lucidez, hago cosas mas... divertidas creo. Por lo que quise hacer una lista de las cosas que puedes hacer cuando estas enferma y en casa.

No creen que esta editorial que hicieron Joseph Gordon-Levitt (que por si se fijan luce esa barba... feisima) y Zooey Deschanel para la revista Instyle, en Agosto del año pasado esta divina? y sus ojos se ven aun mas impresionantes de lo que son. Me encantaaa!

Birdie 29 - Marie Antoinette I (History and Movie)

Este es el primer post de tres que hare de otra de mis peliculas favoritas. Maria Antonieta.

Antes que hablar de la Coppola y sus maravillas, un poco de historia.

Maria Antonia Josefa Juana de Hasburgo-Lorena, nacio en Viena, el 2 de noviembre de 1755 y fallecio en Paris, al 16 de octubre de 1793, a los 38 años. Mas conocida como Maria Antonieta de Austria, princesa de Hungria y archiduquesa de Austria, y reina de Francia y Navarra, y mas tarde de los franceses por su matrimonio con Luis XVI.

 

Creo que saben de quien me refiero no? La reina decapitada, la fiestera, la derrochadora, un icono de la moda en su epoca, aquella a la que se le atribuyo la frase "Si no tienen pan, que coman pasteles" (Qu’ils mangent de la brioche) ESA Maria Antonieta. 

Me muero por leer la biografia que Antonia Fraser escribio sobre ella. (En el que por cierto de basa la pelicula) Hasta ahora, si hablamos de libros, me he leido solo los de historia, y uno buenisimo que compre el año pasado, que, si les gusta este tema, se los recomiendo; "Los Diamantes de la Guillotina" de Pierre Combescot. Aqui tenemos un detallado registro (claro que es novela, tiene su que se yo) acerca del problema del collar que logro destruir totalmente la popularidad de la joven reina.

“Todo lo que hicimos está basado en la investigación sobre la época, pero se ve todo desde un punto de vista del mundo contemporáneo. Mi mayor miedo era hacer una película tipo ‘obra maestra de teatro’. No quería hacer una película de época seca e histórica con unos encuadres fríos y distantes. Para mí era muy importante contar la historia a mi manera. Quería que esta película dejara que el público sintiera lo que debía ser estar en Versalles en esa época y realmente se perdiera en ese mundo.

He oído muchos clichés sobre María Antonieta y su decadente estilo de vida. Pero nunca me había dado cuenta antes de lo jóvenes que realmente eran ella y Luis XVI. Eran básicamente adolescentes encargados de dirigir Francia durante un periodo muy volátil y desde un escenario increíblemente extravagante, la corte de Versalles. Eso es lo primero que me interesó: La idea de que esos chicos hubieran sido situados en esa posición e intentaran descubrir por lo que tenían que pasar tratando de crecer en una situación tan extrema" -Sofia Coppola

Vive rapido y poco. Esa fue su vida.

This is the first post of three that I'll make about other of my favourite movies, Marie Antoinette.

But before talking about Coppola and her wonders, lets see some history.

Marie Antoinette Josèphe Jeanne de Habsbourg-Lorraine, born in Viena, November 2 of 1755 and died in Paris, October 16 of 1793, at 38 years. Most known as Marie Antoinette from Austria, princess of Hungria and Archduchess of Austria, and queen of France and Navarra, later queen of France because of her marriage with Louis XVI.

  

I think you know who I'm talking about don't you? The queen who was decapitated, the queen who love to party and spend lots of money, the one who supposely said the phrase "If they don't have bread, they can eat cake." (Qu’ils mangent de la brioche) THAT Marie Antoinette.

I'm dying to read the biography that Antonia Fraser wrote about her (Book that was the inspiration and base for the movie) Until now, if we talk about books, I've only read the history ones, and other sooo good, that I bought last year, so if you like this theme, I'd totally reccomend it. "Les diamants de la guillotine" of Pierre Combescot. Here we have a very detailed register (of course is a novel, so it has its catching thing) about the problem of the diamond necklace, that finally destroyed the popularity of the young queen.

"All what we did its based on the investigation about the epoque, but you see all from a modern point of view. My biggest fear was making a movie like a "theather masterpiece" I didn't wanted to make a dry and historical epoque movie with cold and distant look. For me was very important to tell the story on my way. I wanted that this movie let the audience feel what it should be to live in Versailles in that epoque, and to get lost in that world.

I've heard a lot of cliches about Marie Antoinette, and her decadent lifestyle. But I never thought before how young the were her and Louis XVI. They were basically adolescents in charge of France during a very hard period, and from a very extravagant scenario, the Versailles court. That was the first thing that catcher me. The idea that those teens were situated in that position, and that they try to discover what they have to pass, trying to grow in such a extreme situation." -Sofia Coppola.

Live fast and short. That was her life.
